Over the years I’ve mostly avoided writing about the abortion issue. Why? Because I grew tired of debating it with those who are on the pro-life side of the argument. It never mattered one way or another what reasoning or facts I would offer. Because in many cases it was the one and only issue with which many of these folks determined who they would support in any election. In other words, why bother? Convincing someone to think differently about a subject when they are so adamant about being right no matter what has become a lost cause, in my view.
So today when my friend Jerry over at Grumpy’s Grumblings politely asked me to do a link to his post, which deals with abortion, I was hesitant at first to do it. But the more I thought about it I came to a different conclusion. While Jerry and I disagree on the subject for the most part, he comes at it from a slightly different angle. He’s changed his political affiliation from being a lifelong Republican to now being a member of the Democratic Party. However, he’s a pro-life Democrat, which while certainly a minority position within the party, it’s not unheard of to be sure. I do not know the percentages but I suspect there are more than we might think.
So with that said, I’m going to provide you a link to check out his piece. As always, Jerry is thoughtful and thorough in his approach and I think many of you will see that he brings out some good points. Some of you will disagree, period. On this platform, though, you’re always free to voice your opinion, yay or nay.

Thanks for the debate Jerry!
