I hope I didn’t completely waste my time when I wrote the comment below in response to this YouTube presentation by an evangelical leader who, not surprisingly, claims that the many “prophecies” of a glorious Trump victory were not false and that Trump was the victim of voter fraud (apparently God is not capable of preventing voter fraud):
Please, folks, think through this man’s claims. Let’s examine them:
1. The election was stolen; America is under siege (this is the big-picture issue; all the others will tie back to this one):
Going back through the nation’s history, some on the losing side of presidential elections have questioned whether the other side might have cheated in some manner. But never in our nation’s history have such conspiratorial views been taken to this level. Always, in the past, the losing candidate has graciously accepted defeat and conceded so that the nation could move ahead, united.
2. “Sidney Powell and Rudy Giuliani are not lightweight attorneys.”
Yes, Rudy Giuliani was a successful and highly-respected attorney. But even the best—at any profession—can make mistakes. And that Giuliani is—or has become—a lightweight can be seen in, for a few examples, these recent incidents: 1. He did not know what a judge meant by the term “standards of scrutiny.” 2. He didn’t know what a judge meant by the term “opacity.” 3. He falsely claimed he is a member of the D.C. Bar (he has been suspended). 4. In a recent court proceeding, he couldn’t remember the name of the opposing attorney or of the judge.
Sidney Powell, who as given herself the kooky nickname #Kraaken, is, according to new official announcements from the Trump legal team, not a part of that team. According to a Fox News report, “Sidney Powell is practicing law on her own,” said Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani and another lawyer for Trump, Jenna Ellis, in a statement. “She is not a member of the Trump Legal Team. She is also not a lawyer for the President in his personal capacity.” Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson told his audience that he offered to give Powell an entire show—even an entire week of shows—to present her evidence of voter fraud. She declined the offer.
3. Hugo Chavez was largely responsible for the voting machines that allegedly miscounted votes in favor of Biden over Trump.
Hugo Chavez, Venezuela’s former president, died more than seven years ago. No one has shown any evidence of any connection between the long-deceased Chavez and the claims of fraud caused by Dominion voting machines—which, by the way, were not widely used in our 2020 election process.
4. If (when) Joe Biden takes office, he must call for a thorough investigation into voter fraud in the November 2020 election.
Yes, much like the investigation President Trump called for regarding the highly-contested 2016 presidential election. Oh, wait, that never happened. Even if Biden were to do so, Trump followers would reject any findings that fail to support their belief in voter fraud.
Did the “prophets” who foretold a Trump victory fail? Yes, they did. Don’t pretend otherwise. Donald Trump—white evangelicals’ new messiah—legitimately lost the election. Your mean-spirited, racist, xenophobic, adulterous, lying new savior (the one you chose over Jesus)—this man who privately mocks Christians—lost this election.
Accept reality.
These naïve Trump disciples tend to lack critical-thinking skills; they take as gospel anything their leaders tell them. We can’t stop attempts to re-educate them. And because they refuse to pay any attention to mainstream news–they call it “lamestream news”–we must take the truth to them from within the sources they trust. As time allows, I hope you will join me in doing so.
