On The Fence Voters started over five years ago, its beginning initially inspired by the horrific mass shooting in Parkland, Florida. My friend Greg called me after the shooting and was tired of complaining. Wringing our hands and screaming outrage was not enough. It was time for action, and thus, we created this blog.
Our goal from the very beginning was to create a site where we could show the contrast between the two major political parties that exist today in the United States of America.
That goal has not changed, and we will continue to point out those differences. Ironically, over these past five years, the gap between the two parties has grown even wider. We’re at the point now where one of the parties has drifted so far from the ideals of what our Founding Fathers fought and died for, we’re now in a fight for the survival of democracy itself.
The look of our site has changed. After five years it was time for a refresh. A new beginning, if you will. While still predominantly a political opinion blog, at its core, from time to time I’m going to write about other things. You’ll see a new menu on the main page, Anything Goes. The title speaks for itself.
My good friend Greg, who did most of the hard work building our original site, may still weigh in from time here. But he has since retired after a long career at FedEx, and is working on his own photography website as we speak. He’s also doing vital work at the grassroots level, registering folks to vote, and photography work for several progressive causes. Great job, Greg!
Mostly, though, the content here will be from me, Jeff, aka Brookingslib. I look forward to the future. As always, your comments are greatly appreciated. All I ask is that we keep things civil.
