Our friend Jerry over at Grumpy’s Grumblings has another post out today letting us all know once again, that snake oil salesmen/evangelical pastors are continuing to divide us on COVID, all while raking in the big bucks from their gullible flock. I’ve included a link to his site at the end to continue reading. Thanks Jerry!

Prior to 2016 I couldn’t have imagined a second civil war coming to the USA during my lifetime. Five years later, in late 2021, I can’t foresee this nation avoiding a civil war within the next few years. Melodramatic hyperbole, you say? Well, here’s some of my evidence pointing to America’s imminent civil war.

The most prominent current point of conflict is the debate over the COVID virus. Conspiracy theorists have questioned and/or openly denounced easily verifiable facts about the virus’s origins, its threat, and the standard, science-based mitigation protocols. And then, those conspiracy cranks have taken direct aim at the most important weapon in the fight against a mindless-but-relentless virus that has killed at least 635,000 Americans—vaccines.

God Told Me, So No Room for Debate

Leading the fight against COVID vaccines are evangelical pastors and leaders, particularly white evangelical leaders. This morning I watched a YouTube “sermon”—in truth more of a rant—by a “pastor” named Hank Kunneman.

The title for the Kunneman video is “Watch What God Said About the Vaccine.” Well, there you have it: God said it, so any debate over the matter is over before it can begin. Who dares to argue against God? Certainly not me. But I will argue against Hank Kunneman. The man is, like so many of the current crop of evangelical “pastors,” a shyster getting rich by declaring himself God’s confidential conduit to common folks. Once these snake-oil salesmen convince their gullible flock that they have that special connection to God, they can declare day to be night and night day, and their followers will rearrange their entire lives to align with God’s word as spoken through His “anointed” mouthpiece.

This war we’re about to start is not just about a virus or vaccines; it’s about protecting our freedoms as Americans.

  1. Another excellent post by Jerry.

Jerry describes Kunneman as “a shyster getting rich by declaring himself God’s confidential conduit to common folks.” I’m inclined to think that he (Kunneman) is also an American traitor, a seditionist and a terrorist.

  2. I agree with Neil — another EXCELLENT post by Jerry.

It’s truly amazing how these evangelists know what “God” wants. And of course, being awakened at 3 o’clock in the morning is a SURE SIGN that he’s sharing a “special message.” Arrrggghhh!

  4. I think there is two things at play here. In the short term, the Republicans in any sort of power position, are pandering to the looney base for votes.

In the long term, the top wealthy republicans and many of the republican politicians want to thin out the population, so more goodies and wealth for them and they don’t have to give any aid to the poor or helpless. They know Blacks, Hispanics and old people are more prone to die from Covid. They can lose these people easily and the looney base may thin out as well, but there will still be enough of them left to vote in lock step with the republicans. By the time they too, really thin out, it won’t matter, as authoritarianism will have won and voting will be meaningless.

And second…short term with these religious pastors; it’s about keeping them in church, therefore contributions keep coming in. These people are so gullible, they’ll go and contribute just to hopefully stay on god’s good side.

But long term for the churches, is total control, being in an unholy partnership with the republicans, so they can dictate laws and do away with the constitution.

And a little side thing to think about is these religious people do not care about who dies from Covid, what happens to the planet or what happens to anyone who is not Christian. After all, they are all going to the pearly gates to have endless harp music and worship an insane god.
The bottom line is smart people use stupid people. It’s gone on forever.

    1. Excellent points Mary. To your reference about R’s not giving a crap about people of color dying, I think you’re spot on. If you remember, back in April of 2020, when things were just starting to get bad, a report came out that it was a high % if those folks who were getting Covid and dying from it. I don’t think it’s mere coincidence that the disgraced former Potus started to move on from even giving a crap about Covid. Remember? It was all about getting back to work, denigrating mask wearing etc…I think there’s a direct link Mary. Once he found out white people were fairing better, it didn’t seem to matter anymore. That’s my take anyway.

It must be really important when God wakes you up to warn against vaccination.
